Večernji list celebrated 60 years with spectacular fireworks
Croatian president Kolinda Grabar Kitarović and several Croatian ministers gave their best birthday wishes to Večernji list.
"Veeeeečeeernji list, first edition, only today for zero kunaaaaa!". One could have heard this shouted on the streets around the Museum of Contemporary art, while high society mingled on the plateau in their best attire. The phrase was shouted by newsboys, namely entertainers dressed in uniforms once worn by newsboys.
The party celebrating the 60th birthday of Večernjak started merrily, attended by many high officials, politicians, mayors, parliamentary representatives, celebrities and other public individuals. Croatian president Kolinda Grabar Kitarović and several Croatian ministers gave their best birthday wishes to Večernji list.
"I regularly flip through Večernji and can say that I prefer the good news. I also enjoy Felix, and check his caricatures daily. When I look at these historical cover pages, I prefer those dedicated to our victories in Flash and Storm. Among the recent ones, I prefer the one with Šime Vrsaljko lying on the flag", said the president. The "silver" manager of Croatian national football team Zlatko Dalić agrees that this indeed is the best cover page in the history of Večernjak.
Birthday wishes kept coming throughout the night, received by Večernji list's chairwoman of the board Andrea Borošić, board member Renato Ivanuš and editor in chief Dražen Klarić. "The birthday of Večernji list is the greatest party this year", said Andrea Borošić, while the editor in chief Klarić congratulated to all Večernjak employees. Former editors in chief Ružica Cigler and Branko Tuđen were especially sentimental.
The program started with a walk through the exhibition of Večernji list's history, and continued with a movie showing its rich history, as well as the future of everybody's favourite newspaper. The atmosphere was jazzed up with performances by the famous choir Perpetuum Jazzile and Serpentes Magic Theater group.
As the pinnacle event of the evening, the fireworks lasted for several minutes and astounded everyone attending the party, many of whom could not resist filming it on their phones.
