Styria expands its digital operations by acquiring shares in three web services

In 2014 the Austrian media company Styria continues to expand its business and influence in Croatia through new acquisitions. The digital team's interest was aroused by web services, and in which 24sata and Večernji list now own considerable shares.

"We recognized Popustolovac , Mojkvart and Jelovnik as complementary services to our digital portfolio. They represent added value and benefit to our readers and clients and contribute to Styria's dominant position in the Croatian online market", says Sanda Lončar, member of the Board of Vecernji list and 24sata responsible for digital business.

The web service for ordering food, is thus now 100% owned by 24sata. It was bought from the company Video Media owned by Bojan Bernik, whose other projects include the portals and was created in 2012 and includes a selection of restaurants in the area of Zagreb, but the goal is to expand the offer to the rest of the country and become a leader among services which offer food ordering via internet and mobile platforms.

Večernji list and 24sata also acquired a major share in, a website which presents information on special offers from 40 Croatian retail chains to internet users. Popustolovac was launched as a start-up by a Russian businessman Andrey Shtylenko within the Split business incubator. The main objective of the site is to make it easier for people to manage a large number of available catalogs and information and help them save time and money. Also, Popustolovac aims to help retailers address customers in a non-aggressive manner. – the leading business search engine in Croatia – was launched in 2005 by Borna Segulin, the owner of Idoneus. This web service allows users to quickly find products, companies and services in their vicinity. It also enables small and medium businesses to present their services to a wide number of potential customers. Idoneus offers web development and search engine optimization to more than 20,000 of their clients as well. 24sata and Večernji list acquired a significant stake in the website which can be used as a platform for communication and collaboration with SME's.

Styria is the strongest media company in Croatia with nearly 2,000,000 readers per day, through its print publications and digital channels. It is the owner of the best read daily newspaper, the most visited news site and television 24sata, most influential Croatian daily Večernji list, the leader among business editions Poslovni dnevnik, the largest Croatian online classifieds site and many specialized online editions.
