Application procedure

Q: How does the application procedure work?

Recruiting processes within Styria Media Group are run according to a standard process 

  1. You apply online at with your letter, CV and references within the period stated in the advert 
  2. In all cases you will receive an immediate confirmation that we received your application 
  3. Your documents convinced us? Then, according to the position, we will coordinate 1-3 interviews, which you will have with recruiting specialists or management 
  4. 1-2 weeks after your interview you will receive feedback on your application status.

Each applicant will receive final information on his or her application at the latest 3-4 weeks after the end of application period

Due to the large number of applications, we would ask you to accept that we cannot not offer a preparatory personal or phone conversation with each applicant. 

The objective of the overall application procedure is to clarify with you the extent to which the job corresponds with your expectations and ideas and whether you have the qualifications required for the job. This requires appropriately fair communication. For this reason we make sure that each step in the application procedure is accompanied by an open and respectful attitude. For this reason we avoid so-called stress-interviews and the like. 

We would like to invite you to give us feedback at any time. This helps us continuously to improve our recruiting process. 

Upload the following documents, ideally in PDF format, in your online application: 

  • Succinct letter of application
  • Well structured and complete curriculum vitae (professional career, qualification and further training, information about you, personal interests) – 
  • Certificate of your last qualification as well as references if available 

For some creative jobs, further documents such as work or text samples are required. 

Make sure that you already convey in your written application why you are interested in the job and what experience and qualifications you believe make you the right person for the job. Especially for jobs for which we receive a large number of applications, your written application is an important basis for initial selection.

We see every applicant as a guest in our house, independently of subsequent acceptance, and we will welcome you accordingly. 

The interview serves mainly to clarify expectations and to enable a deep exchange of information about you and the job. 

In order to make the best possible use of interview time which, according to the job, will be between 30 and 60 minutes, the interview is very structured. Here the challenge is, on the one hand, to conduct as individually tailored a conversation with you as possible and, on the other hand, to give each candidate the same opportunities by asking similar questions in a similar style of conversation.

Due to the large number of applications we cannot not offer a preparatory individual phone conversation with each applicant. Please wait for our feedback after you have submitted your written application. Should you be invited to an interview, we will make sure that we plan enough time in order also to be able to answer your questions about the job. 

Salaries stated in the adverts are usually minimum salaries with a provision for greater payment according to professional experience and qualification. In order to ensure that your expectations can be addressed, state your expected salary as early as possible in the application procedure, for instance in the application letter. 

Usually 1-2 weeks after your interview you will be given feedback on the status of your application.
