Treasure of the Styrian media history
Founded in 1912 as “Obersteirischer Verkehrsanzeiger“, the “Murtaler Zeitung“ during the 100 years of its existence has become an indispensible medium for the districts Judenburg, Knittelfeld, Murau and the Lungau. Since 2009 it has belongs to the 140 regional newspapers of the Regionalmedien Austria (RMA) as a title of the “WOCHE Steiermark“. The “Murtaler Zeitung“ based in Judenburg provides its readers each week with relevant information from their immediate environment and brings the region’s events closer them. The employees of the “Murtaler Zeitung“ are strongly rooted in the region and report authentically from their districts. Probably not that well known is, that also notables like Hans Dichand and Hugo Portisch once worked for the “Murtaler Zeitung“. Since January 2007, Wolfgang Pfister as managing editor-in-chief has been responsible for the “Murtaler Zeitung“/“WOCHE Murtal“. For some time now, the “Murtaler Zeitung“ also has had a “sister“, the “WOCHE Murtal“. It is now published monthly and each Wednesday or Thursday is distributed free to more than 27,000 addresses or households in the Murtal valley.
